Our Story: From the Battlefield to the Shop Floor

Opened in the summer of 2023, Wicked Wrenches is the product of two great friends, John and Michael, who have worked together in military and civilian capacities for many years. After serving our country and traveling the world, we decided to bring the same values of loyalty, transparency, and dedication to the auto repair industry. 

John and Michael met while stationed in Upstate New York. Their friendship was solidified during a deployment to Afghanistan in 2010-2011, where they worked together in high-stress, demanding conditions. Despite the challenges, their professional bond grew stronger, and they stayed in touch even after leaving the Army Aviation field.

In 2022, Michael moved to Texas with his wife, mother-in-law, two Rottweilers, and two cats, where he helped open an auto repair shop. Not long after, John and his family relocated to the same neighborhood, and the two friends worked together again. Realizing they had a shared vision for how an auto repair shop should be run, they decided to branch out and open their own shop. In June 2023, Wicked Wrenches Automotive was born. We aim to change people's thoughts about car repair, one happy customer at a time.

Meet the Owners

John has always had a passion for working with cars. As a child, he loved tearing things apart just to figure out how they worked, and his fascination with vehicles only grew over the years. Before enlisting in the Navy at age 19, John spent his spare time fixing up older cars, with a particular fondness for Volkswagens. After serving four years in the Navy, he joined the Army in 1999 as a UH-60 Blackhawk mechanic, retiring in 2016 with over 21 years of service. John has sailed, been stationed, and protected countries worldwide. Now, John dedicates his time to his family, traveling, and providing top-notch service at Wicked Wrenches.

Michael, on the other hand, grew up on farms in Upstate New York, where he developed an interest in mechanics at a young age. He enrolled in a vocational school for Heavy Equipment Operation and excelled, finishing at the top of his class. Michael enlisted in the Army at 18, where he served as a Kiowa Warrior Helicopter Mechanic. Afterward, he spent 24 years working as a civilian contractor, handling everything from leading projects to managing multi-million-dollar contracts between the Army and NASA Research and Development. Michael enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering for community service, and relaxing at home.

Like John, Michael is passionate about serving the community and ensuring every customer feels respected and heard.
